Aluna ****ADOPTED****
Cesar (4 years old) and Aluna's (2 years old) story is one of best friends who stick together through it all. When SEPR first learned about these
two they were not together at all. Cesar was originally picked up as a stray in Cedar Rapids when someone found him tied to a sign post, alone, in the middle of the night. As he slowly opened up at the shelter he quickly won the hearts of the staff and was soon brought to South Dakota to join SEPR's adoption program. While in foster care we learned he had separation anxiety issues and his foster parents worked to help him through them. Meanwhile, several months after Cesar was picked up, Aluna was found running as a stray in Cedar Rapids as well. She came into SEPR very shy but desperate to love! Almost immediately Aluna was
adopted by a family with three little boys. After just a week or so the family
decided they still weren't complete and decided to adopt Cesar as well. Both dogs loved the kids in the family and with Aluna's support Cesar even managed to overcome his separation anxiety issues!
Things took a turn for the worse for these best friends when barely a year after finding what they hoped was
forever one of their boys was found to have severe allergies. After over a year in their adoptive home these two are back with SEPR and looking for a new home that can give them their TRUE forever!
Aluna is a spunky girl with a VERY forward personality that makes her a ball of sunshine. With her jewel toned
brown eyes and a perpetual pout due to an under-bite, she knows exactly how to use her looks to get away with mischief...or at least try to anyhow. Her foster mom makes sure she knows the rules and follows them with a
reminder here and there. She is not much of a hugger but is a huge cuddler and is the Queen of kisses, never missing a chance to give them away! Aluna knows sit, leave it, no, down, off and come. Walks are a favorite for her and she sits nicely to have her Gentle Leader put on before going out. While walking she doesn't pull much but
if you're walking a new route she tends to 'sight-see' and will try to dart after the occasional rabbit or cat. A gentle reminder gets her going again though. Aluna is very dog social and loves meeting new canine friends but is
very forward about it so slow introductions should be practiced.
If Aluna is the sun, Cesar is the moon. His personality is more reserved than Aluna's and he takes a little time to warm up to a new home but when he does it's like the full moon coming from behind the clouds! Cesar likes to watch things from a quiet corner until he's fully analyzed the situation. You can tell just by looking into his dark brown eyes that he's always thinking. Once he's finished thinking though his eyes just light up and he's ready to play! He likes playing chase in the back yard and even if he's not in the middle of the action in the house he keeps an eye on it all. Cesar also has a singular talent to magically appear in your lap as soon as you sit down to watch television! Going for walks gets Cesar very excited so it takes a bit for him to remember he has to sit nice to get his Gentle Leader put on so he can go out but once on he walks very nicely. He will try to dart after the occasional
rabbit but can be redirected easily. He also knows sit, down, leave it, no, off and come for commands. Cesar is dog selective and tends to not like male dogs on initial meeting but with slow introductions and good leadership he does very well with other dogs.
Both Cesar and Aluna do well with cats and LOVE going for rides in the car. They love playing in a fenced back yard but should always be watched as Cesar has proven he's able to clear a 6 foot privacy fence. He only does this when unattended though. Both dogs are house trained, crate trained, and enjoy their Kongs stuffed with peanut butter. These pocket pit bulls (both weighing only about 45lbs) are just waiting for a place to set down roots and hand out their unconditional love. They're not attached at the hip but certainly best friends forever who are hoping to find someone to give them a home together. Bring a little sunshine and moon glow into your life and adopt this
wonderful pair today!
