Good with cats: Yes
This is Aurora - she is a 4 year old 55lb female Pit bill. She ended up on death row in an Indiana shelter after her 18 year old owner lost his home. Aurora previously lived in the house with a 10 month old baby and a two year old.
Aurora is fully housebroken. She was good with their other dog, a female boxer, she also lived with 5 cats. What little bit of time the shelter staff spent with her, she really enjoyed. It was a long shot to find Aurora a rescue that would have room, but of course SEPR has a hard time saying no to rock solid stellar dogs - so Aurora was accepted!
Aurora is a great all around lap dog!! She is such a good girl and has fit into her foster familiescrazy on the go
family very easily! She is living in a house ruled by cats, a 16 year old cat mostly. She never bothers the cats. Aurora shows no food aggression as her foster parents maine coon cat likes to play in her water dish while Aurora is
eating. She sits and waits to be given her food and treats. Aurora is also sharing her home with a male pit bull named Ollie. They are both submissive dogs so they get along very well. A home with a nice male companion would be right up this little princess alley or maybe even a dog friendly kittie!
Aurora is great with children. She lives with an 11 year old boy and worships the ground he walks on. She has gone with her foster family to soccer and made many friends at the practice fields of all ages. She also has traveled out to the lake, and is great in the vehicle. She just curled up in the seat and went to sleep. Aurora is learning to walk on the gentle leader, and doing very well at it.We walk in the morning and in the evening. She walks with her friend Ollie, side by side.
She is learning to kennel. Aurora, at this point is not found of being left alone and we do not blame her after being dumped at a busy shelter. She is a very people oriented dog and wants to be near us all the time. Aurora's foster parents moved her kennel into their room, she sleeps in it at the end of our bed.She is now sleeping through the night. She is also kenneled when we are gone, the longest time being around 5 hours at a time. Aurora is learning not to jump up on people when she gets excited. It usually only takes one reminder and she will quit.We use the spray bottle as a gentle reminder.
Aurora is house trained and will go to the door when she needs to go out. She has never made a mess in her kennel or the house. She has never chewed on anything in the house. Aurora likes the small rawhide chews but is not really interested in toys or big rawhide bones. This amazing young woman is a delight to be around and will be very tough to find a sweeter dog. Not much ruffles Aurora's feathers so she will be an easy fit in almost any
family!
