Blossom! This fun, loving, goofy girl has already earned her nickname Awesome Blossom. She came in really overweight and with a little hitch in her giddy-up, and needed a little extra TLC to be on the mend. After seeing the vet it was determined that she had two torn ACLs and would require surgery to get relief from the everyday pain. She may not ever walk 100% "normal" due to the length of time living with the injury, but it's SIGNIFICANTLY better. It was once said she walked with a swagger but now after surgery, she's all wiggle butt!
In a few short months she has learned sit, look, lay down, kennel and shake. She is working on roll over, and solidifying waiting patiently for food. She's also a rockstar at sitting and waiting before going inside and out. She's VERY treat motivated, as one might expect for once being overweight, so the sky is the limit on what she could learn!
In addition to loving treats she also loves lying around. If you want a low-energy dog, Blossom is it! She’s a big ol’ couch potato who loves nothing more than sunbathing or laying belly up on the couch next to you (with you rubbing her belly, of course). If she’s lying down and needs to shift around, she will remain seated and will just pivot and butt scoot to get where she needs to be. It’s pretty funny to watch! She’s not too interested in toys, but does play and fling them from side to side every once in awhile. Blossom does love to chase the laser pointer and it is a great tool to keep her active. She loves the snow and likes to run through it and grab a few mouthfuls before going inside. During the warmer months she loves to play with hoses and sprinklers and likes to try to "catch" the water. After she’s exhausted herself, she enjoys lying down with a nice nylabone or bully stick.
Blossom is kennel and potty trained. She goes right out into the yard and does her business quickly and doesn't doddle around. Blossom is a perfect angel in her kennel and will go running straight for it if shown a peanut butter filled Kong or a treat! She doesn't tear up her blankets, and has left her memory foam bed totally alone. She also sleeps in her kennel at night and is quiet as a mouse but if you're up for it, we are positive she would love to snuggle with you all night long.
Blossom does pretty well with her gentle leader, and is learning good rewards come from it! Bath time means more treats for Blossom, so obviously she doesn't mind getting all cleaned up. Nail trimming is a breeze, and most of the time she will just roll over on to her back for some belly rubs while you trim her nails. Awesome Blossom is an excellent co pilot in the car. She rides freely in the car and will often just sit and look out the window as quiet as can be. Sometimes she will even curl up and take a snooze.
Blossom doesn't pay much attention to other dogs out and about, but if she does all you have to do is show her a treat and she's right back on track again. She lives with both male and female dogs, but prefers the cute considerate male. Blossom is truly a “Velcro” dog—she just wants to be with you, whether it’s on the couch, in the backyard, or riding around in the car. This sweet girl lives to love and cuddle! Won't you snuggle with her?!?! Apply for Blossom today!
