Street-wise, sassy and a healthy dose of brassy bravado - that's our Dodger! This is the dog that should have been added to the Little Rascals gang! Think of your favorite aspects of all the characters from Spanky to Alfalfa...and you'll be half way to what this boy is. Breed bans and deadbeat owners have put a bit of a cramp in his style but he's quickly recovering from his stint in the doggie slammer and coming back better than ever!
Dodger is proving to be a quick learner. In just his first week he learned hand signs for sit, lay down and wait. He already knows shake with both paws and we're working on speak. It shouldn't take him too much longer to learn that as he loves to talk to you! As a younger dog Dodger has plenty of energy to burn and we're having fun helping him find creative outlets for that energy! A good round of fetch is great for taking the edge off, a mile or two on the treadmill gets the mind working and practice on his leash manners helps to make for a very happy pup. And after all that fun, he knows that kennel time is sleep time...and stuffed Kong time! Overall though, Dodger would appreciate a fairly active household. It doesn’t take him long to burn off energy but it also doesn’t take more than 10-20 minutes for him to recharge and be ready for the next big thing.
Dodger is working on his doggie manners with his foster sister. After slow introductions and some boundaries set about toys and water bowls he is doing great with her. On walk-abouts he hasn’t met a dog he really doesn’t like but his intense energy can be rather off-putting to a number of dogs. We’ve finally figured out what the meowing furballs really are. They were scary at first but now he's become fast friends with the young cat in the house hold. They like to wrestle with each other and just be general goofballs together!
Dodger has only had a few accidents in the house and crate (mostly related to peanut butter not agreeing with his tummy - probably allergic), but have since eliminated peanut butter from his diet and been accident free for quite some time. Car rides are huge fun and he loves to sit and watch the world go by or cuddles into a blanket to let the sound of the engine lull him to sleep. He wanders a bit in stores but for the most part stays at heel very well and gets excited to meet anybody and everybody that will give him attention! He still needs to work on keeping 4 on the floor when meeting people and will require a consistent leader to help guide him.
If you’re looking for happy, go-lucky, active and a little brassy, Dodger is your man! He's going to be the perfect addition to an amazing family!
