Nope, it’s not Snoopy…it’s Linus! Linus found himself in the shelter in a city with a breed ban and SEPR knew this puppy was something special. He is completely deaf, but he is busy learning hand signs so he can do whatever you ask of him. At 38 lbs, Linus is just a little peanut who is all big brown eyes and wiggles!
Linus still has a lot of puppy left in him. He loves to explore the house and see what he can play with. He loves toys and may try to pick up a shirt or a towel as a temporary toy, but once you give him the “No no!” sign he won’t try again (at least not with that same item!). Linus just wants to PLAY! He would love to be in a home with a female he could do zoomies with or some kids to wear him out. Speaking of wearing him out, Linus is learning to walk nicely on leash with his gentle leader on and has even gone for a few jobs! After his initial “bucking bronco” attempts to get rid of the gentle leader, he is learning that walks are much more fun when you heel nicely. Since he is deaf, he is extra focused on the sights and smells around him, though, and sometimes needs to be reminded to pay attention to where he’s going!
Linus knows his “sit,” “crate,” “no no” and “come” signs and is working on “lay down” and “back up.” Living with a canine foster sister is helping him get his signs down since she already knows them. Linus gets along well with his sister and allows her to be the dominant dog. Linus has visited a home with a kitty and was excited to see it, but not aggressive. With some supervision and guidance to teach him that kitties are not to be chased, Linus would probably be fine with a cat in the house.
Linus is used to sleeping in his crate as well as spending the work day in it. He goes in willingly but likes to have a bone or full kong in there to help him pass the time—otherwise he may turn his puppy attention toward the blankets! Linus is mostly housetrained but is working on getting it to 100%. Again, he is so very puppy like still and sometimes his excitement and distractibility get the best of him! However, we know a smart cookie like him will be completely housetrained in no time. Linus enjoys car rides and is usually curled up and sleeping within a few blocks. Linus isn’t the biggest fan of baths; however, he will sit in the tub nicely and does not try to jump out.
Linus wants everyone to know that adopting a deaf dog does come with its perks! Since he can’t hear, things like cars, etc outside will not make him bark. You can watch a loud tv show and it won’t faze him one bit! His foster mom says it’s adorable to walk into his room and see him sleeping so peacefully, only waking when he feels the vibrations of her unlatching the crate door. Linus is truly a special boy who would fit into nearly any home. Apply to adopt this sweet boy today!
