Perrywinkle - SEPR's heart warming snuggle bunny!
Meet Perrywinkle.. she is a unique looking 2-3 year old blue and white female pit bull. She is SEPR’s heart warming little snuggle bunny. Her freckles are the most adorable little things along with her big brown eyes! Perrywinkle found herself homeless in a busy shelter after being picked up as a stray in Kansas City. She was not doing well in the shelter and was beginning to lose hope of getting to leave. Perrywinkle was beginning to shut down. Our mission, getting her into a safe environment where she could open up, was priority one. Thankfully, a foster home stepped up to take in Perrywinkle.
Perrywinkle, often nicknamed PW or Perrywinks, is cute as a button. She was rather shy and laid back in the shelter, but now her true colors have come through after settling into her foster home. She is still really relaxed most of the time. She loves to take naps out in the green grass bathing in the sun. She also loves to play fetch or keep away. PW will bring you the ball if you ask her, but really, she loves to be chased. All she really wants is for someone to love her and give her the attention she was missing out on before. On the other hand, a nice couch with a fleece blanket to curl up on for movie night is right up her alley, as well. Perrywinkle is a such a great listener, really a quick study, and extremely polite. She is doing very well with the male pit bull at her foster home and has quickly become a role model for him. Perrywinkle would do fine in a home with a nice male companion to keep her company. As far as cats, PW thinks they might be fun to chase - so a home without cats would be best for her!
Perrywinkle is house trained. She will give you "the look" and run towards the back door when she has to go. She is also crate trained and has no problem going into her crate/kennel for her personal kong filled with yummy yogurt or tuna. She is an amazing escape artist at times while in her crate, so a little extra tlc with security doesn't hurt before leaving. She lived a previous life on a chain with very little food, so everything that PW has experienced is a learning process. She is smart as a whip, though, and with a great leader happily falls in line.
She is wonderful with kids of all ages. She isn't rough or too curious. She is such a sweet dog around kids and doesn't smother them too much with kisses unless they ask. PW loves car rides and has such good manners that she will sit nicely in the passenger seat curious as to what adventure is next. Perrywinkle is excellent on walks with a gentle leader and knows "wait", when crossing streets, & the "heel" command. She has excelled with being patient and listening when out on a leash.
Perrywinkle is not a huge fan of baths but will cope if you give her a nice soapy rub down. She sleeps in her little doggie bed and occasionally wants to get closer and tries to sneak up in the big people bed. If you have the heart to tell her sternly to get “off”, she will listen. Perrywinkle has blossomed into such a sweet dog since coming from a neglected home. A family that will take their time and show her the world is a fun place could be great for PW. She has a huge heart and you will quickly fall in love with her!
