Volunteers from SEPR not only donated their time to drive to St Louis' secure shelter twice to care for hundreds of pit bulls but also found foster homes to take five rescued pit bulls! Choosing top candidates from over 500 dogs was not something our rescue took lightly! Many of these dogs were very worthy and deserving of a second chance and a real life. Sadly, most of them have never experienced anything other than a life on the end of a heavy chain and severe human abuse. SEPR is extremely happy with the pit bulls that have been chosen and the five of them are truly starting to come out of their shells with their new foster homes. The beginning of their "lives" has just started!
Honey soon wiggled her way into her foster family's heart as fast as she had previously done with her caretakers in St Louis. Even with all this good news, Honey's rear leg was not improving. Upon a visit to the vet SEPR was informed she had a shattered/dislocated hip. Some one had either kicked her or hit her very hard when she was just a small pup. Honey underwent surgery two days later to repair and remove the ball of her hip. The vet advised that Honey had a very good prognosis after the surgery was completed and could live a full and happy life. Surgery did not slow this little gem down. Within two days she was up and moving. Her foster family had to monitor her every move because she was already trying to jump off couches. It has been three weeks since surgery and Honey is recouping well from her ordeal. She is also quickly learning what it is like to be with a loving family and sleep in a bed at night. Honey's foster family (to no surprise) has decided that she will be a permanent part of their family! From a life of probable certain death to her very own forever family SEPR couldn't be happier for Miss Honey!
SEPR is proud of all the families that have helped make a difference in the world of dog fighting! You Rock!
