Pork Chop ****ADOPTED****
Sex: Male (Neutered)
Age: 2-3 year old
Weight: 72lbs
Color: Tan and White
Good with dogs: Yes
Good with cats: Yes
This hunk of beef is Pork Chop. He is a two year old pit/lab mix. Pork Chop found himself in a city with a breed ban - which is not a bright future for a pit bull. What a lover though - the shelter staff quickly was smitten with him and it didn't take long for the SEPR volunteers to feel the same.
Two words to describe Pork Chop are intelligent and charming! Pork Chop already knows basic commands like sit and lay down and walks nicely on his gentle leader (with the occasional reminder to slow down!). He also knows to sit down at the door before going outside and to wait his turn to go through the door, and he has been practicing the commands stay, leave it, and look. He loves to follow his foster family around from room to room and snuggle with them wherever they end up. He will go into his kennel willingly...as long as you provide him with a little treat to reward his effort! Pork Chop soaks up any positive praise you give him. He is quick to learn and eager to please!
As for extracurricular activities, Pork Chop LOVES to play catch...he just hasn't figured out the release part of the game yet!
Pork Chop gets along with the whole family. Because he is still young he does get a little excited when the kids are playing, but will calm down when redirected. He is just so excited and wants to join in the fun! Pork Chop has met other dogs and got along with them; however, he isn't so sure how he feels about other dogs playing with HIS toys so (like all our dogs) we recommend paying close attention to triggers such as toys. Pork Chop does wonderful with his resident foster sister – a Chihuahua. He would do great in a home with a nice female companion as he takes direction easily.
He is house trained and will go potty outside even in the rainy, soggy weather! Despite his love of snuggling, he knows what furniture is off-limits and will wait for an invite before joining you on the couch. He loves to stick as close as possible to his people, waiting for the right moment to talk you into some belly rubs and ear scratches. Pork Chop is so grateful for a second chance at life and cannot wait to find his forever family. Could it be with you?
