I've decided to start this blog because, well, I've got a lot to share! I'm Salsa. My lady says I'm a beautiful, red nosed pit bull mix. She keeps asking me how old I am, but we all know a girl never tells her true age. My lady tells everyone I'm around 2 years old. I don't really know how long a year is, but let me tell you what, I've been busy. I was so hungry and weak I just wanted to lie down and sleep when these nice people found me. I had been wondering around Kansas City, MO trying to find someone to love me, but no one was interested. So when these great people invited me to come and stay with them, I was grateful. This nice lady gave me food, water, and a warm and cozy bed to rest my weary bones. She said I looked like a skeleton with fur I was so skinny. After a couple of weeks at that place, I packed my bags and traveled to Sioux Falls, SD, where these fun group of ladies said that they would foster me. I didn't exactly know what that meant, but, if it was anything like my last spot, I was ready. My lady lives in Iowa, so in a matter of one day, I had traveled through 4 states to get to my foster home. Whew! What a trip. When we got to the ladies house, I was a little worried about coming inside, she had to convince me that it was a safe place for me to be. This is where I met my bestest buddy, Ike. He is Crazy! He runs so fast, barks, jumps around like he's on fire, and is GaGa over his ball. I knew this was going to be a great place to be and that my buddy Ike would show me the ropes.
The lady also has a couple of those fuzzy things that meow, and another 2 legged creature that sleeps, eats, and watches TV. I think she calls him her son. I don't know though, he's taller than her. I really like him too. Kinda got a little crush on him. He let's me sit by him on the couch sometimes. I snuggle right up next to him. The lady is pretty darn nice too. We go for walks, car rides, exploring, and she teaches me good doggy manners. I'm pretty darn smart and pick up on them right away. The one I don't like though is "stay". Man, I just want to be near my people.
During the day when the lady is at work and the boy is at school, I curl up in my crate and chew on a bone and nap. The lady comes home, let's me go outside to potty, cause I would never potty in my crate, and then we play. Sometimes I just like to chase Ike around the yard and tease him by trying to steal his ball. He gets so mad and makes so much noise. I just laugh and bark back at him. Hehehe At night the lady let's me sleep next to her in the bed. Sometimes I get a little carried away and want to lie on top of her. She just doesn't understand that I only want to keep her warm and show her his much I love her. She'll figure it out one of these days. She's a smart lady.
Once a month, we hop in the car and go to this awesome place that is full of food, toys, beds, and bones. I think I'm in heaven. And the best part is when we have humans come and visit us there. I soooo love people. I just melt whenever I see them. My other dog friends from our group come too. The lady say's it's "adoption day", only I don't really know what that is. The lady tells me that she is going to find the perfect home for me to live forever. That's a long time, but I'm ready. Living at the ladies house is great, don't get me wrong, but she tells me that when I find my family, that she can go and find another lost dog that needs someone to take care of and find that one a home. I can tell by all of the smells in the house that I'm not the first one that's been here.
I will miss the lady and the boy, but I'm just so glad that they were able to rescue me from being alone, scared, and hungry. The lady says that's her job. Yeah, I'll miss my main man Ike too, but he's gotta stay there and teach the next one that comes the ropes. I guess everyone's got a spot in the world, and I can't wait to find mine!
