Ruby ***ADOPTED***
Sex: Female (Spayed)
Age: 1.5 years
Weight: 42lb
Color: White and Brown
Good with Dogs: Yes
Good with Cats: Yes
Meet Ruby! This energetic young pocket pittie is full of sweetness and love. Despite her short stature, Ruby won’t jump on you—but she will stand on your feet in an attempt to gain a little ground for kisses! If you want a little shadow to follow you everywhere and shower you with affection and cuddles, then Ruby is your girl! And how could you say no to her, with that one silly perked up ear?
Ruby is a great mix of energetic pup and couch potato. Ruby could easily play fetch for hours, or spend the day wrestling with her bulldog foster brother. However, once playtime is over Ruby is happy to relax inside in the air conditioning. Ruby also loves walks. She started out a little unsure about loud traffic and other noises but lots of practice with her foster family has taught her to ignore them and focus on her person. She is also practicing walking with her gentle leader—any fuss she might make is easily redirected with a treat and a command to “focus” or “look.” Ruby loves having a canine partner to go with her on walks—she would do great in a home with a nice calm male dog to play and walk with her! Ruby’s most recent discovery is that water may not be as scary as she once thought. On a recent outing to a lake she thought she’d give it a try and actually waded in for a bit!
Besides her bulldog brother, Ruby lives with a pittie foster sister and a kitty. Ruby gets along with both dogs and the cat. She occasionally wants to follow the cat around and sniff him, but she is easily redirected. Ruby is learning that her “siblings” don’t always want to play with her, so she has learned to entertain herself with her own toys or with an antler chew. Ruby has met a few other dogs and did well with them.
Ruby is house and crate trained, and knows the commands sit, wait, off, no, down, and shake. Her foster parents will start teaching her “roll over” soon. Ruby also knows to wait to be invited up on furniture, and will sit and wait until you tell her “ok” before she joins you on the couch for cuddles. If her foster mom or dad are home, Ruby MUST be by their side. She is a Velcro dog through and through!
Everyone who meets this little girl falls in love with her. Her joyful personality and expressive ears have made her a fan favorite on facebook and twitter! Ruby doesn’t care about popularity, though—she is just looking for that one person or family to love forever. If you think that might be you, apply for Ruby today!
